Hello everyone, and thank you for your understanding on my silence after the loss of my dad. His service was yesterday, so here’s hoping that things will begin to resemble normal soon. To ease back into an eventual regular posting schedule, I wanted to start back in with Shouldn’t Miss News. You may see some older articles from these last few weeks, but they were shouldn’t-miss then and they are still so today. Enjoy!
150 years later, 2 Civil War sailors to be buried: On Friday, March 8, at Arlington National Cemetery 2 unknown sailors from the USS Monitor will be buried. They will likely be the last Civil War soldiers interred there. USS Monitor sank in December 1862 and was located in 1973.
Fresh proof found for the other, ‘original’ ‘Mona Lisa’: If you only thought there was one, you were wrong. (Don’t worry, I didn’t know either). Quite an interesting read.
Cluster of 35 ancient pyramids unearthed in Sudan: Clustered might be an understatement, they are that close together. Years of camel traffic have worn the tops of the pyramids off revealing what I think is really neat architecture, check out the pictures.
Baseball Recovered From Civil War Battlefield Is Unveiled: Found in Tennessee in 1862, I think this find is really pretty neat. (Then again I am a rabid baseball fan, so I’m biased.)
Night Gardens: These gardens really manage to capture a sense of place, day or night. Plus, everyone needs pretty pictures once in a while. 🙂
